I know that this clearly takes inspiration from mythology and biblical stories, but the end result is a series of strange continuity issues that basically culminate in Doom no longer being a never-ending fight against evil incarnate but essentially some sort of interstellar chess game (AKA a similar issue the Doom novels ran into).
